What Larry Couldn't See

After two weeks of being on the road and not selling a single cardboard box, Larry was dejected. He wondered if he was doing something important with his life. If no one wanted what he was selling, maybe he was in the wrong business.

Larry’s next stop was in a town called Watkins. The town adored his rather plain cardboard boxes. Larry was happily surprised and sold every box. When he went to leave, he asked the mayor of Watkins why everyone was so enamored with them?

Mayor Willis replied, “Sir, don’t you see? You didn’t sell these folk cardboard boxes. You sold that young man a time machine. That little girl a space ship. And that woman over there now has a stage to conduct her plays. You didn’t sell cardboard boxes, sir. You sold transportation, homes, careers, and passions. You sold dreams.”
